Welcome to the longarm quilting section of our website. Here you can find information on pricing, designs, how to prepare your quilt for long arming, and previously completed customer quilts.

Pricing

All pricing is in CAD and subject to HST.

Our long arm quilting services are priced per square inch.

To calculate an approximate cost, measure your quilt for length and width. Multiply the length by the width for total area in square inches. Then, multiply this total area by the rates listed below, based on quilting density.

For light to medium density quilting, our price is $0.026 per sq inch.

For heavy density quilting, our price is $0.030 per sq inch.

For right now, we are offering edge-to-edge quilting only.

For example, for a quilt that is 76 in by 96 in, the total area would be 76 x 96 = 7296 sq inches.

To calculate the cost for light to medium density, multiply 7296 x 0.026 = $189.70.

For batting, our price is by linear inch.

Hobbs 80/20 batting is available in 96 inch wide, priced at $0.36 per inch.

Quilter’s Dream Wool batting is available in 92 inch wide, priced at $0.72 per inch.

Currently we only have these size rolls of batting. We will be adding wider rolls in the future. If you need wider batting for your quilt we suggest you provide your own.

If you would like us to trim your quilt, add $10-15 depending on the size.

Pricing depends on the density of quilting. Please advise us how densely you would like your quilt quilted, or let us choose for you, light, medium or heavy.

For thread colour, if you have a preference as to a colour you would like, please advise us. Otherwise, we will pick one to match and blend with your quilt top. The majority of our quilts use a neutral colour thread that matches the background fabric, but if you would prefer something bolder we have lots of colour choices to pick from.

How to prepare your quilt for long arming

Backing and batting should be at least 6 inches larger than your quilt top, on all sides. For example, a 76 x 96 inch quilt would require batting and backing that is 88 x 108 inches.

If you choose to piece your backing, make sure all the edges are straight and not jagged, and all seams are fully sewn and backstitched so that they do not come apart. Please ensure that all seams in the backing are pressed one direction and not twisting.

Please ensure that your borders are attached and measured correctly. Borders that are wavy from not being measured properly will not quilt properly and may show in the quilting.

Please ensure all loose threads are trimmed from the front and back of your quilt top, especially when there is a large contrast in value, such as a black and white quilt.

Make sure your quilt and backing are well ironed. We will be charging a fee for ironing quilts that are not ironed properly.

Choosing a quilting design

Please take a look at some of the edge to edge designs we have available below. If there is a specific design you have in mind or you would like to see more options, let us know. Your quilt is handmade with love and care, and we want the quilting to compliment it beautifully.
